Fighting for My Granddaughters: Exposing Retaliation in San Diego CWS:

There’s something deeply wrong happening inside San Diego’s Child Welfare Services — and it’s time the public knew. Because I chose to exercise my First Amendment rights, CWS social workers David Miller, Ashlee Purnell, Nicole Montzingo and Lisa Haight guardian ad litem — fueled by a personal vendetta — has retaliated in the most horrific way imaginable: David Miller has taken my two tender-aged granddaughters and placed them in a strange foster home, without warning, without cause, and without concern for their safety.

These innocent little girls, once safe and loved, have been ripped from everything familiar and thrust into an undisclosed, unfamiliar environment. They are now enduring chronic trauma, anxiety, health deterioration and danger — all because an official decided to abuse his power instead of protecting the vulnerable. I refuse to stay silent. I refuse to let my granddaughters become silent casualties of corruption. Our family is fighting back — not just for our girls, but for every family who has been bullied into silence by a system that was supposed to serve them. This is bigger than one case. This is about justice, accountability, and the protection of every child.

A Broken System: How a Rogue Social Worker Is Tearing Families Apart in San Diego:

I never thought I would be in this position — a grandfather, fully approved by Resource Family Approval (RFA) standards, fighting not only for my rights but for the very safety and unity of my family. Yet here I am, standing against a deeply disturbing reality: David Miller a deviant social worker, along with his supervisors, accomplices, and a complicit caregiver, is systematically violating our civil and human rights, and keeping our family cruelly and unjustly separated.

This is not just a matter of paperwork delays or bureaucratic indifference. What we are facing is intentional, targeted abuse of power. This individual and his network are spreading lies, manipulating reports, and making reckless statements — things that could endanger my life and the lives of my loved ones. Their actions are not only unethical, they are criminal.

Our community in San Diego deserves better. Families deserve better. No one — especially those already approved by the very system meant to protect children — should be living in fear because of the people entrusted with safeguarding families. In this blog, I will expose exactly what is happening: names, dates, actions, and consequences. I will document everything because enough is enough. We will not be silenced, and we will not let them destroy families under the cover of authority.

Giving relatives priority over a foster home is required under the law unless there are reasons such criminal or child abuse history. It’s the Judge and not CWS who decides where the children will be placed. Relatives can provide information to the Judge directly. The Judge will read and consider the information you provide and will also make copies for the attorneys and CWS. There is a form called the JV-285 for you to do this. Here’s the link to the form: https://selfhelp.courts.ca.gov/jcc-form/JV-285

CWS and the child’s attorney/guardian ad litem don’t conspire. The attorney/guardian ad litem for the children doesn’t care what CWS wants. They are 100% focused on what is in the children’s interests and they frequently disagree with CWS when they make their arguments to the Judge. There are legitimate reasons why children aren’t placed with some relatives. If you or anyone in the home have criminal history, or a prior history of substantiated allegations of abuse it’s a legal liability to place children in the home. In some cases grandparents are cleared for placement but there’s someone else who lives in the home that has a criminal history that prevents placement. Sometimes CWS can get waivers for criminal or child abuse history but it’s a process that takes time and requires a lot of people to review it and approve it, and they can’t waive certain offenses. The Judge can order children be placed in a relative home against the recommendation of CWS. The best thing you can do is communicate constructively with the child’s attorney and CWS to try to resolve any concerns that can be resolved, and to provide the relative information form to the Judge.
