A Letter From A Friend
To Whom It May Concern: I have had the pleasure of having Keenan in my home on two different occasions while he was out on his 48 hour passes. I found him to be extremely well behaved, quiet, and well spoken. He was a pleasure to have around and was quite capable of having an intelligent conversation. I could also however detect the sadness in him when he spoke about his mother and how much he longed to spend time with her. I also had the pleasure of meeting his mom, Amy on his second 48 hour pass. She has decided to stay with me for a couple of months so she could go see Keenan each weekend. Their reunion was touching beyond words, and I found her to be a remarkable person. In fact we have become great friends. I am convinced that she is going to stay clean not only for herself but for her son. In fact as she told me, ” When I see my son this little boy that needs me, how could I want to get high?” I think that Amy’s achievements thus far are outstanding and even though she has made some mistakes in her life, she is taking responsibility for her actions and making the necessary changes to improve her life and her son’s. I think the best possible outcome for these two would be for Keenan to be reunited with his Mom. I fear that if this doesn’t happen soon that he too may become lost to the system.
