Five Years Without Freedom

A Mother’s Statement

For five years, I have lived under a system that calls itself “protective” while keeping me from my son.

I have no criminal record, no history of violence, and no diagnosis that would justify supervision.

Yet I am still forced to see my child twice a month under watch — as if love itself were a danger.

I carried this child. I gave birth to him. I endured the pain, the labor, the sleepless nights, the fear, and the joy of becoming a mother — not his father.

But for five years, I have been treated as if that bond never existed.

I have completed every requirement, attended every hearing, and kept every rule. I’ve flown across states from Oregon to California just to spend a few supervised hours with the boy I brought into this world. Five years later, I am still treated like a stranger in my own child’s life.

Every visit ends with the same heartbreak: a hug that ends too soon, a door closing behind me, and the quiet pain of knowing that my child is growing up under control — not care.

This is not justice. It is control. It is a system that rewards silence and punishes love.

I am asking for what every child deserves — a chance to be with their mother without fear, without supervision, without manipulation.

No parent should have to fight five years to prove they are safe when all they’ve ever been is loving.

Until this ends, I will keep standing, keep speaking, and keep fighting for the day my son is free to run into my arms again — without permission.
