Evelyn Lopez was coerced into returning to California by Child Welfare Services, Ashlee Purnell, and Norma Olivares, after being told that U.S. Marshals, Border Patrol, and law enforcement were hunting her. She returned and surrendered herself, only to discover that the charge was a misdemeanor. What followed was the removal of Malaika and Xayah from their family. Our children remain separated from their loved ones, held hostage in Norma Olivares’s home by a child welfare system that refuses to return them home.
